Curmudgeon in the Wry 560

Friday, January 31, 2014---876 Words---Average Reading Time: 3 Minutes, 11 Seconds. (A pointless waste of time---time frittered away)
Offending readers and hindering productivity one issue at a time since 2001.
Continuing to call them as I see them.
Virtually free of original ideas.
Warning: Contains unsound bites from the apple of life.
Often wrong…never in doubt.
If you want this in a different language…move to a country that speaks it!
Gluten Free.
Completely biased.
Don’t forget to floss.
Low carb.

Rave: The misty, Miss June Christy.
+++++++
Reading: “Until Death” by James L. Thane.
+++++++
On the Hi Fi: Miles Davis, “Kind of Blue.”
+++++++
Under rated: Anita O’Day.
+++++++
Rant: To measure how far America has declined, one need only note how much better we treat our bureaucrats than we do our wounded warriors.
+++++++
Truism: Beautiful women only fear one thing … young women!
+++++++
Quote: “Who the hell wants to hear the actors talk!”—H.M. Warner, 1927.
+++++++
TV Timeout: “The Blacklist” never fails to provide unexpected results…fresh and unique. I do wish they would resolve the secret with Tom ASAP, as he is an annoying character at best. Diane’s death will create a few new threads. I love Mr. Kaplan. This episode zigged every time I thought it would zag.
+++++++
Bottom Line: Our memories of how great things were back in the day are far superior to how they actually were.
+++++++
Truism: Have you noticed no one ever uses the word genius to describe government workers including presbo?
+++++++
In case you missed it: Before the season, National Champion FSU was not in the Top-10 Coaches’ or AP Poll…Auburn received zero votes for the Top-25.
++++++
Quote: “It is easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.”—Mark Twain.
+++++++
Hmmm: As Dennis Rodman cavorts off to North Korea to play footsie with Kim Jong-un, I wondered if his travel agent was Hanoi Jane Fonda.
+++++++
TV Timeout II: This week’s episode of “Justified” just flew by. It was over so fast; I watched the replay at 11 just to make certain…and that one was a jet plane as well. Damon Haerriman as Dewey Crowe is a joy to watch…just the perfect Elmore Leonard criminal; he plays stupid and scared as well as anyone. He makes the simple, complicated. This show loves its morons and the way they prove the theory of Natural Selection week after week.
Scenes with Raylan, Boyd and Tim together are golden TV moments…unreal chemistry.
Just who is providing protection for Ava while she is on the inside?
Michael Rappaport as Daryl Crowe, Jr. is the only complaint I have. His accent is way too forced and phony…First bad call I’ve seen in five seasons.
Irony alert---James LeGros, who played Wade Messer until his demise this episode, portrayed Raylan Givens in the 1997 “Pronto” TV movie.
+++++++
Quote: "I found out that it's not good to talk about my troubles. Eighty percent of the people who hear them don't care and the other twenty percent are glad you're having them."
- Tommy LaSorda ,LA Dodgers manager.
+++++++
Rant: SOTU observations—I prefer those who believe in God to those who think they are God.
In fiction, it is always more important to be convincing than accurate.
+++++++
TV Timeout III: That was certainly an unexpected twist to end Season Five of “White Collar.” I thought it was a solid season…the finale wrapped up the biggest plot points, and left that cliffhanger.
Rebecca could still return to haunt Peter and Neal…however, the show has not gotten the official renewal.
Hope it returns as the final line was spectacular, “I’m about to become the last person on Earth who knows where you are.” What a great abduction line.
+++++++
Hmmm: I often wonder what Mother Nature’s reason for baldness is.
+++++++
No doubt about it: Women tend to be a lot more current then men…sometimes by a decade.
+++++++
Department of redundancy department: Same exact, free gift, unexpected surprise, annoying pests, future prospects, basic fundamentals, consensus of opinion, exact same.
+++++++
Bottom Line: Sign on the desk of the current resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, “ The buck doesn’t even slow down here.”
+++++++
Idle thought It's fun to imagine how Howard Cosell would have handled Richard Sherman's postgame rant.
+++++++
Quote: "The film looks suspiciously like the game itself."
- Bum Phillips, New Orleans Saints, after viewing a lopsided loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
+++++++
At the movies: Seems the likes of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Alan Grayson, Schmucky Schumer, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman and Elijah Cummings roam around gibbering like the monkeys of Oz.
+++++++
Hmmm: Who do you think lies most about their circumstances, those who claim to be rich or those who claim to be poor?
+++++++
Didjaknow:  If you put your iPhone on airplane mode, it will charge twice as fast.
+++++++
Quote: “Ivory towers don’t prepare anyone to do anything but go through life confusing theory with reality.”—Burt Prelutsky.
+++++++
Final Thought: Politicians are the best in the world at taking full responsibility of a situation that happened on their watch while accepting absolutely no blame.
