Curmudgeon in the Wry 508

Thursday, August 25, 2011---619 Words---Average Reading Time: 2 Minutes, 15 Seconds. (A pointless waste of time---time frittered away)

Offending readers and hindering productivity one issue at a time since 2001.

Continuing to call them as I see them.

Virtually free of original ideas.

Warning: Contains unsound bites from the apple of life.

Often wrong…never in doubt.

Being wrong is the risk you run by thinking and acting.

A Grumpy Old Man Production.

If you want this in a different language…move to a country that speaks it!

+++++++

Rave: Frank Lovejoy.

+++++++

Reading: “Find a Victim" by Ross Macdonald--a Lew Archer novel.

+++++++

On the Hi Fi: “Just You, Just Me" by Joy Wright.

+++++++

Under rated: Burgess Meredith.

+++++++

I miss: Jim Busby, Victor Mature, Vaughn Monroe.

+++++++

+++++++

Quote: “If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.” ~ Orson Welles.

+++++++

Rave: “Suits” (rapidly becoming my favorite USA Network original show) has been renewed. Terrific show with lotsa great moments in every episode.

+++++++

Hmmm: A restaurant website called Shortorder.com says the worst celebrity tipper is Tiger Woods, followed by Madonna, Barbra Streisand, LeBron and actor Jeremy Piven.

+++++++

Rave: USA Network has picked up “White Collar” for a fourth season.

+++++++

Hmmm: Tim Tebow-loving Bronco fans have no right to tell the team whom to start at quarterback. That’s the job of the media.

+++++++

Quote: “Leaders are elected to lead (from the front, incidentally).”---Charles Krauthammer.

+++++++

Rant: Hospital gowns for patients are awkward, uncomfortable, needlessly complicated and just plain stupid. Whoever designs something less bothersome will make a mint.

+++++++

Quote: “The stock market has correctly predicted nine of the last five recessions.” ~ Renowned Economist, Paul Samuelson.

+++++++

Didjaknow: We all know a group of lions is known as a pride, and a bunch of birds are called a flock. A grouping of owls is known as a parliament.

+++++++

Rant: MLB’s All Star Game has outlived its usefulness. Ditto for the stupid home run hitting contest…truly much ado about nothing.

+++++++

Hmmm: When I went to school I learned that a million was much greater than 250,000. Guess obama never had a course in 4th grade arithmetic.

+++++++

Truism: Life is too short to stuff a mushroom.

+++++++

Quote: “I have never for a moment believed that obama has the best interests of the United States at heart.” ~ Distinguished Economist Thomas Sowell. I am of a like mind.

+++++++

Reading 101: Read USA Today for trends, The Wall Street Journal for depth and Dilbert for the truth.

+++++++

Rim shot: Secrecy is the enemy of efficiency…but don’t let anyone know.

+++++++

Didjaknow: Today’s Mac keyboard is virtually unchanged from original typewriter layout. Know affectionately as “qwerty” for the first six letters, it was designed to slow down typists so their type bars would not jam.

+++++++

Rant: People who say they want a government program because “I don’t want to be a burden to my children” apparently think it is okay to be a burden to the children of other people. We call those people liberals.

+++++++

Hmmm: You know that you have seen too many balls and strikes, when you see Carl Yastremski’s grandson (Mike) playing in the College World Series for Vanderbilt.

+++++++

Rant: I think we should all be ashamed of the fact that here in the USA you have to prove who you are in order to rent a video from Blockbuster…but not to vote in an election.

+++++++

Truism: Make three consecutive correct guesses and you will establish a reputation as an expert.

+++++++

If you can’t, thank the teacher’s union.

If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.

That is all.

As you were.
