Curmudgeon in the Wry 458

Thursday, November 19, 2009---601 Words---Average Reading Time: 1 Minutes, 49 Seconds. (A pointless waste of time---time frittered away)
Offending readers and hindering productivity one issue at a time since 2001.
Virtually free of original ideas.
Warning: Contains unsound bites from the apple of life.
Often wrong…never in doubt.
Being wrong is the risk you run by thinking and acting.
A Grumpy Old Man Production.

Rave:
Phil Silvers (we share the same barber).
+++++++
Reading: “Ford County Stories”—
John Grisham.
+++++++
On the Hi Fi:
Frank Morgan’s “Mood Indigo.”
+++++++
Under rated:
Priscilla Lane.
+++++++
Rave: The
History Channel’s “World War II in HD” series is outstanding. Mostly, never-before seen color footage of WWII in the Pacific, North Africa, England and the ETO. Narrated by Gary Sinise.
These men and women were truly the Greatest Generation. Their resolve, resourcefulness, valor and humility are astonishing. Their sacrifice brought us another 64 years (to date) of security, freedom and unlimited opportunity. There are many lump-in-your-throat and watery-eye scenes---and unlimited moments where all you can do is say thank you and God Bless You.

Quote: “Profile away!” —Sarah Palin. Couldn’t have expressed it any better myself.
+++++++
Truism:
Star Parker is one tough cookie. “How can it be above your pay grade to consider when life begins, but not above your pay grade to define one-size-fits-all health care for several hundred million Americans and force each one to submit to your social engineering?”
+++++++
Hmmm: How many of the 535 members of the House and Senate do you suppose are members of
Mensa?
+++++++
Rant: The delivery person will always arrive when you are gone for five minutes.
+++++++
Review: I tried with “The Prisoner.” About ¾ of the way thru episode one, I gave up. Much too tedious for me. No matter, the original is still available. Some classics lose everything when remakes are attempted.
+++++++
My two cents: Maureen Dowd seems to be a bitter, aging spinster.
+++++++
Hmmm: If the Fort Hood shootings weren’t a terrorist act, what is? Political correctness is not simply an abomination---it is a clear and present danger.
+++++++
Just asking: What’s worse---having to live in Buffalo or having to watch the Bills? Same could be said about Detroit and the Lions.
+++++++
Quote: “Credit you give yourself isn't worth having. --
Irving Thalberg.+++++++
Didjaknow:
It is harder to get a job at the Apple Store than to get into Harvard.
+++++++
Truism: Whenever you wake up a little early and cannot get back to sleep, the newspaper will not be in the driveway.
+++++++
Rant: All 535 members of Congress should be required to take the SATs every year---and post their scores on their web sites.
+++++++Quote: “The best way to get a 19 year-old to return a call to his cell phone is to hang up without leaving a message.” --Wall Street Journal.
+++++++
Rant: The hot water will always run out just when it is time to rinse the shampoo out of your hair.
+++++++
Rave: Answering the phone (with a human) can be a competitive advantage.
+++++++
Duh: If you take the final cup of coffee, at least take the pot off the burner.
+++++++
Truism: Stealing stuff from hotels makes your luggage heavier and hotels more expensive.
+++++++
Rave: Register at Lowe’s for your wedding gifts. Those gifts will be used sooner and much more often.
+++++++
No denying: “At the end of the day…” school gets out, nothing more, nothing less.
+++++++
If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you can’t, thank the teacher’s union.
If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.
That is all.
As you were.
