Curmudgeon in the Wry 449

Tuesday, September 15, 2009---598 Words---Average Reading Time: 1 Minutes, 41 Seconds. (A pointless waste of time---time frittered away)
Offending readers and hindering productivity one issue at a time since 2001.
Virtually free of original ideas.
Warning: Contains unsound bites from the apple of life.
Often wrong…never in doubt.
Being wrong is the risk you run by thinking and acting.
A Grumpy Old Man Production.

Rave:
Andrew Breitbart
+++++++
Reading: “
The Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown.
+++++++
On the Hi Fi: “
Errol Garner’s Finest Hour”
+++++++
Under rated:
Robert Hutton.

Quote: “He is most free from danger, who, even when safe, is on his guard.” —Publilius Syrus, 46 BC.
+++++++
Didjaknow: Beirut is older than Rome.
+++++++
Hmmm: While typing away on the computer keyboard, I often miss the sound of the keys, the clang of the return, and the sound of crisp paper rolling through the carriage.
+++++++
R.I.P.: I had the pleasure of working with
Patrick Swayze in 1987 when he was doing a promo tour for the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack…and the music wasn’t even his day job. He was being a team player to help all the artists on the soundtrack. It was a big boost to the label. He could not have been more cooperative. He charmed all the radio and retail folks with his quick wit, self-deprecating sense of humor and infectious energy. He was a class act, taken much too soon.

Stats: “QUARTZY,” when placed across a triple-word score, with the “z” on a double letter score is worth 164 points in Scrabble.
+++++++
Rave: With
Roger Federer losing in five sets in the U.S. Open finals to someone not named Nadal, Murray or Djokovic and a women’s final with nary a Williams sister, I felt like I was in an alternate universe.
The fresh faces and return of women’s champion
Kim Clijsters, the stage is set for next season’s Grand Slam events. Melanie Oudin, Caroline Wozniacki and Juan Martin del Potro will add excitement for years to come.
+++++++
Hmmm: Why is it that when you’re driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?
+++++++
Official’s time out: I cannot honestly say I would have behaved any differently than Serena Williams after the
atrocious foot fault call by the linesman in the final set of the Women’s Finals, nor would I have been any more contrite.
Not only was the call inaccurate, it should never have been made at that point in a championship match. Let the players play…or as they say in college basketball, “good no call” should have been the operative words, or Modus operandi if you will.
+++++++
Useless Stat: On average, plan on spending seven years of your life in the bathroom---more if you are a men’s room attendant.
+++++++
Hmmm: Do cat burglars steal cats?
+++++++
Rave: It’s pretty much impossible to walk past an
Apple Store without going in…does not matter if you need anything or if you are a Mac or a PC.
+++++++
Didjaknow:
“The Long Hot Summer” (1958) was the first time Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were cast in the same movie.
+++++++
Time warp: I seldom check my watch or clock on the wall when using the computer. I get my time check from the time machine in the computer’s lower right hand corner. Don’t know if that is good or bad---it just is.
+++++++
Didjaknow: The directions on a box of Minute Rice say to cook it for five minutes.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.
That is all.
As you were.
