Curmudgeon in the Wryy 424

521 Words---Average Reading Time: 2 Minutes, 02 Seconds. (A pointless waste of time---time frittered away)
A Life in the Slow Lane Production.
Offending readers and hindering productivity one issue at a time since 2001.
Virtually free of original ideas.
Often wrong…never in doubt.
+++++++
Rave: Suzanne Pleshette.
+++++++
Reading: “Spade and Archer” by Joe Gores.
+++++++
On the Hi Fi: “Original TV Soundtrack for Mannix” by Lalo Schifrin.
+++++++
Under rated: George Brent.
+++++++
Didjaknow: In the 1940’s there was one phone for every ten people. Quite different from the multiple cell phone people walking around today.
+++++++
Quote: “He (obama) has not explained in a compelling way why Americans who followed the rules need to sacrifice more to help those who flouted the rules.” ---The Doyenne of the left, Maureen Dowd, New York Times
+++++++
Didjaknow: The Pony Express was in action for just eighteen months.
+++++++
My take: During obama’s non-State of the Union address the very botoxed pelosi looked to me like she was the “Wack-a-Mole” with her repeated up and down sycophantic applauses.
+++++++
Truism: No sport sells itself better than baseball, turning weeks and weeks of spring training into an event, even when much of it is much ado about nothing.
+++++++
Rant: The only thing the massive pork-laden spending bill is going to stimulate is more cynicism for the Washington political elites.
+++++++
Rave: You’ve gotta love Penn State beating Illinois the other night 38-33---practically unbelievable considering the shot clock and the three-point shot.
+++++++
Quote: “Never have so few spent so much so quickly to do so little.” ---Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma) on the socialistic stimulus bill.
+++++++
Rant: The Oscars are to celebrity what spring training is to baseball, an annual glorification.
+++++++
Truism: At this time we have the most contentious social and political debate---the opposing goals of equality of opportunity versus equality of outcome.
+++++++
Rant: A-Rod’s “it’s my cousin’s fault” is sorta like the adult version of “the dog ate my homework.”
+++++++
Rave: Barney Frank is a Saturday Night Live skit waiting to happen.
+++++++
Rant: Clearly, the president considers the economy a crisis. You need look no further than his speech last Wednesday (2/18), in when he used the word "crisis" more than 25 times -- sometimes three times in one sentence. Had you been playing a "crisis" word-drinking game, you would have temporarily lost all brain function by the end of the 18-or-so-minute speech.
+++++++
Lunacy: Now that 129 Division 1 men’s teams are eligible for tournament play, March Madness has become Twilight Zone madness.
+++++++
Count ‘em Dano: The NCAA Tournament---65 teams. NIT---32 teams. CollegeInsider.com Tournament has 16 teams. The College Basketball Invitational---16 teams.
+++++++
More Math: If college basketball used the same percentage (60%) that football uses for the bowl games, there would be 196 teams in the dance.
+++++++
Keeping it pithy: After the mortgage plan to reward the inept was announced, the UBS end-of-the-day wrap: “obama Speaks, Market Listens, Sells Off.”
+++++++
Bumper sticker of the week: “When the world turns crazy, the crazy turn pro.”
+++++++
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.
That is all.
As you were.
